my response to Consider this.

when i first read this article i thought to myself in my mind "Yes! this is what I'm looking for." I found it helpful because this article talks about the possibility of kids actually getting so fixated on video games that they think they are in them. Now we must be think realistically here, what are the actual chances that kids think that they can drive down the street and blow up cars and kill people with missile launchers. this adds to my research because I am going to specifically look into the grand theft auto games and see their effects on kids around the world. this doesn't change my thinking because it is questioning the video games powerfulness and if they actually have a great effect on teenagers. in someways it deepens my knowledge on this subject but it really just re freshens it, because it is telling me information that I already know but it is telling me it in greater detail. it does not introduce new ideas. this article does not lead me to new questions. after reading this article it makes me want to look into the Rockstar producers ( the company that made the GTA games) and see if their games cause aggression more then other violent games.

CONSIDER THIS

  • "someone will steal your car and drive it recklessly through crowded city streets on the way to an abandoned warehouse, where it will inevitably blow up in an epic shootout involving missile launchers and strippers. I'm not joking. That is a scenario from Grand Theft Auto IV, which recently set the record for the highest-grossing first week of sales for a video game."
  • "Critics warn that anyone who plays the game will end up doing in the real world exactly what they do in the virtual world. In other words, watch out for a run on missile launchers and vigilante strippers."
  • is it ever remotely plausible that once done playing these games someone will want to be in a gang and want to fight everyone they see just so they can get two stars and $500 in cash?
  • its the fact that these games aren't really realistic, and any kid that actually thinks they are shouldn't be allowed to play these games.
