response to eight post. (8)

I sort of excpected more from this article. I thought thus article was going to inform me on the positive attributes of video games, and in a way it did. Except it was a bit to sketchy and outlineish. This has not added to anything new to my topic. This article has not deppened my thinking or changed it in any way, shaoe, or form. But this article does introduce the new idea that video games could be good for children. I will have to look into this for next week.

blog post number eight (#8)

  • Sarah Luehrs says that video games can be good for children. That it teaches creativity and, cooperation.
  • "Videogames are in most cases not dangerous and can even contribute to the development of important skills," said Toine Manders
  • "(They stimulate) learning of facts and skills such as strategic reflection, creativity, cooperation and a sense of innovation,"
  • An EU report said that video games could stimulate violent behavior in specific situations.
  • The report stressed parental involvement by proposing development of a "red button" that could allow parents to control content and how long games are played. It did not elaborate as to what form this button would take
